Pairing with stocks

A Dibs coin can trade against ETH or against one of the tokenized stocks and ETFs that live on Robinhood Chain. Pick NVDA and the coin is priced in NVDA, graduates in NVDA, and pays its creator fees in NVDA.

How pairing works#

Pons runs every coin's bonding curve against a quote asset. For an ETH pair the curve holds ETH; for a stock pair it holds the tokenized stock, and buyers pay in that stock. Pons keeps an allowlist of accepted quote assets on the factory and sets the graduation threshold for each. Dibs reads both live, so the picker only shows assets Pons accepts today.

Things to know#

• Buyers need the stock. A NVDA-paired coin can only be bought with NVDA. That's Pons's design, and the reason to pick a stock is to reach people who hold it.
• Approvals are per transaction. The launch-and-buy contract only pulls the exact dev-buy amount you approved and resets its own allowance to zero afterwards.
• Thresholds can change. Pons sets them per asset. The form shows the live value; it's fixed for your coin at launch.
